Christoph Röckerath
South America Correspondent

Christoph Röckerath was born on 10.3.1973 in Münster, he grew up in Cologne. Studies in Cologne, Washington DC and Bonn. Degree Magister Artium in North American Regional Studies, Political Science and Modern History.

He is with ZDF German Television since 1998.

From 2009 to 2014 he was correspondent in Washington DC, responsible for USA and Central America. He had assignments in crisis regions or on crisis topics, including earthquake in Haiti, drug war in Mexico and Honduras. Riots in Ferguson, Missouri.

He created long feature documentaries on Cuba and social inequality in New York, among others. The latter won the Rias Television Award.

Fall 2014 to mid-2018 he was political correspondent in Bavaria.

Since fall 2018, he is South America correspondent in Rio, responsible for the entire South American continent. Assignments include the crises in Venezuela and Chile.
